An Oxenhope girl’s eye-opening trip to Brazil will be aired on TV in a hard-hitting new series.
Rhianna Thomas was one of five teenagers who travelled to South America to learn about the origins of everyday items they took for granted.
The group were filmed working in Brazilian factories and living alongside young workers from the country.
Rhianna’s experiences will be shown in the six-part CBBC series Show Me What You’re Made Of.
Rhianna, 14, who attends Parkside School in Cullingworth, visited Brazil during the summer holidays.
Rhianna’s mother, Michelle Dawson, said: “The BBC took kids who take their gadgets for granted and took them to the places where these things are made.”
While in Brazil Rhianna worked on a prawn farm, in a processing factory, and in the Brazilian beef industry.
Her mother said: “I think the value of money has had an impact on her. She certainly sees things differently and has been looking for a job.
“The BBC were looking for a good role model who wasn’t afraid to speak up.”
Show Me What You’re Made Of will be shown each Monday at 4.30pm on CBBC.
