A Christmas fair to promote Saltaire shops affected by ongoing roadworks was a roaring success at Victoria Hall.
Billed as a thank you to shoppers for sticking with traders during testing times, the event drew huge crowds, said David Ford, of Saltaire Traders Association.
“We got far more than expected, hundreds and hundreds of people,” said Mr Ford, who owns Saltaire Bookshop. “They were queuing before the doors opened at 4pm and were still inside the hall at 8pm. We are all over the moon,” he said.
Lots of the children visited Santa in his grotto, while parents browsed the shop stalls for Christmas gifts.
