A councillor campaigning to save Keighley’s Territorial Army premises says she has been told the TA unit based there will move out within three years. Keighley town councillor Andrea Walker has been drumming up support for Keighley Drill Hall, in Lawkholme Lane, which is home to C Company of 4th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment. The property has been recommended for closure as part of radical changes to Britain’s army reserve system. She said a letter sent to her by the Reserve Forces and Cadets Association for Yorkshire and the Humber informed her that the air force and army cadets who also occupy the property would be staying. “However, I’ve been told that the TA unit will leave no later than December 2016,” she said.
