Footpaths through the grounds of Otley’s oldest building are now basking in new lighting.
Refurbished ‘heritage’ lighting columns from the town have been installed on the paths that lead up to All Saints Parish Church and through the churchyard.
The lighting, the result of a joint effort involving the church, Otley Town Partnership, Northern Power Grid, Leeds City Council’s local area committee and the Town Council, was officially switched on last week.
Town Mayor Councillor Pam Gill (Lab, Manor) said: “This scheme shows just what can be achieved when people work together.
“Not only is the improved lighting in keeping with the ancient building, but it will make safe a well-worn Otley footpath.”
The town council agreed earlier in the year to underwrite future maintenance.
