Advent tomorrow is marked at Bradford Cathedral with a 6.30pm service including carols and the lighting of candles.

This coming Wednesday’s lunchtime organ recital at 1.05pm features all three of the cathdral’s organists. The programme includes music by Healey Willans, Otto Reubke and C H H Parry.

This will be the final recital this season. Organ music at lunchtime returns on February 5 when the guest recitalist is Robert Sharpe, director of music at York Minster.

On December 9, the Cathedral and Kala Sangam join forces to decorate the Christmas tree and sing carols and swaras – a form of chanting from the Indian sub-continent – followed by refreshments. This starts at 1pm.

The Cathedral’s Organ Appeal, begun in February, will close 2013 having raised at least £30,000 through public appeal.
