Staff on Bradford Royal Infirmary’s gastroenterology unit have raised more than £500 for the typhoon disaster relief fund for the Philippines.
Over the past couple of weeks, staff have raised cash by holding a raffle for a Christmas hamper and smaller gifts.
Sister Veronica Elmasry said: “We have around seven Filipino staff working on the unit, and while none had families directly affected by the disaster, we all felt that this was something that we needed to do.
“We made a Christmas hamper full of good-quality food like mince pies, sweets, wine, sherry, biscuits and teabags, which everyone on the unit contributed to, from secretaries and porters to administrative staff.
“Nurses have also donated a huge box of clothes which will be sent out to the disaster victims. It’s really been a fantastic group effort on the unit.”
