A motorway sliproad near Bradford was closed while police herded a stray brown calf back into its field.
Officers were called to junction 26 of the M62, near the Chain Bar roundabout, to reports an animal was on the road at 2.11pm.
The calf was behind the safety barrier, but close to traffic, so the entry sliproad was closed while the cow was moved.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said the animal is now back in its field, which has a lockable gate, and the farmer is being contacted.
The sliproad has now reopened.
