The 59-year-old woman was walking along Rushton Road, Thornbury, when a man attacked her from behind. The victim ended up on the floor and the man then stole her handbag.
She suffered a fracture to her shoulder and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The suspect was Asian, aged 17 to 20 and about 5ft 10ins. He was wearing a dark jacket and trousers.
Detective Inspector Richard Partis said: “This was a violent and frightening attack which caused the victim to suffer a significant injury.”
