Police received reports of several vehicles being damaged on an unlit traffic island on Killinghall Road in Bradford.
Drivers reported bollards being missing and the island being moved into the middle of the carriageway due to lines being re-painted on the road.
One motorist said he had seen up to 20 cars with blown tyres, including two police vehicles with all four tyres damaged.
A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police confirmed they had received complaints about the incident, with one call logged at 8.33pm on Tuesday claiming ten vehicles had been affected.
