Four streets in Bradford city centre will be crammed with festive shoppers when a Christmas market begins today.
This year’s Bradford Christmas Market will be bigger than ever, with 80 stalls dotted around Darley Street, Kirkgate, Bank Street and Tyrell Street until Sunday.
Work started yesterday to put up the stalls for the Bradford Council event, which is twice the size of last year’s festive extravaganza.
Bargain-hunters will be able to pick up Christmas presents, including hats and scarves, perfumes, handbags and purses, jewellery, handmade bath bombs and soaps.
There will be cheese, olives, Italian sweets, pickles and chutneys for foodies, along with a whole host of Christmas goodies.
Street food stalls will include African and Caribbean cuisine, German sausages, Frikaller burgers and hotdogs.
Mulled wine, cider and fruit juices will also be on sale, as well as hot chocolate, teas and coffee.
The market will be open 9am to 5pm Thursday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday.
Councillor Susan Hinchcliffe, Bradford Council’s executive member for employment, skills and culture said: “There will be a feast of festive flavours on offer at the market with plenty of opportunities to get you in the mood for Christmas.
“There really is something for everyone.”
Meanwhile, Shipley Christmas Market will be held over two days from 9am to 5pm on Friday, December 13, and Saturday, December 14.
Stalls on offer will include organic, natural and deli food, herbal products, wooden toys and games, and natural handmade soaps.
There will also be a range of silver and crystal jewellery, semi-precious stones, holly wreaths, stoneware and seasonal plants, evening bags, hats and scarves, candles, lamps, quality greeting cards and sweets of yesteryear.
In Saltaire, the monthly Local Produce Market at Caroline Street car park will have a Christmas theme on Saturday, December 21.
There will be home baking, hog roast sandwiches, cheese and dairy produce, fresh fish and meats on sale from 9am to 3pm.
