At this year’s National Christian Youth Work Awards, two of the five awards were presented to people in the Bradford Diocese.
Carol Stewart, of All Saints, Ilkley, was named Volunteer of the Year and Adie Hinsley, from E:merge which works in the Laisterdyke area of Bradford and has it roots in St John’s, Bowling, was named Youth Worker of the Year.
Carol, who is 74 and has been working at All Saints for 40 years, was nominated by past and present members of the many youth groups she has been involved with in.
She said: “I wasn’t surprised. I was flabbergasted.”
Adie Hinsley said: “I work with so many teenagers who struggle and have a hard time, so this is award is for them.”
