The Bay Horse Inn at Oxenhope is to remain as a pub after being bought by a West Yorkshire-based chain.
EM Inns hopes to have the hostelry in Upper Town open in time for Christmas with a new manager. The rescue comes after villagers and local councillors expressed concern that the Bay Horse would change its use.
EM Inns boss Matthew Evans said that his purchase of the pub was going through the legal process and was being dealt with by solicitors.
Mr Evans said EM Inns specialised in turning round struggling pubs by making them the heart of their communities.
Mr Evans stressed that although the Bay Horse would serve food, it would remain a pub rather than becoming a restaurant.
