Campaigners fighting to protect the Green Belt near Tong are planning to write to every member of Bradford Council.

Save Tong & Fulneck Valley Association wants to protect land in the Tong Valley and Westgate Hill.

Councillors will discuss the Core Strategy of its Local Plan, which sets out how much land should be set aside for housing and jobs by 2030, on December 10.

The plan does not yet earmark specific sites for development, but association members fear their countryside could be at risk Association chairman, Canon Gordon Dey, said the Green Belt should be protected.

He said: “As I understand the legislation, that would be the last place you would look, but I feel it is being seen as an easy option.”
