A 60-year-old man is on trial at Bradford Crown Court accused of sexually abusing two young girls in a string of allegations dating back more than 15 years.
David Midgley denies 21 offences including a charge of rape and accusations of indecent assault, gross indecency with a child and sexual assault.
Midgley, of Witchfield Court, Shelf, is said to have molested the girls after buying them clothes and showing one soft porn movies.
Prosecutor Rebecca Young told the jury yesterday that the elder girl was about eight when Midgley began touching her inappropriately and the second girl was five.
It is alleged that Midgley told the younger girl: “It is our secret.”
Both the girls were abused at Midgley’s then home in Bradford, Miss Young said.
The younger girl told her mother, a student counsellor and the Social Services but she did not feel ready to make disclosures at that stage, the jury was told.
The police were alerted in 2011 and Midgley was arrested. He told officers he was innocent.
The trial continues.
