Cyclists are being encouraged to embark on a two-wheel challenge ahead of the Grand Depart’s arrival in Yorkshire in July.
Entries are now open for the annual Brian Robinson Challenge Ride 2014 around the South Pennines on Sunday, April 27.
Brian, from Mirfield, is the first Briton to finish the Tour de France in 1955 and went on to win a stage in the race in 1958. The ride, a test of fitness for sporting and recreational riders is expected to be popular this year with the Grand Depart arriving in July.
Organised by Councillor Martyn Bolt, a keen cyclist and the current Mayor of Kirklees, the 70-mile challenge is now in its eighth year and has raised about £40,000 for worthy causes.
Coun Bolt is also hoping to offer corporate packages for this year’s event. For more information visit britishcycling.org.uk/events/details/102951/Brian-Robinson-Challenge-Ride-2014.
