Guiders have backed a Bradford Council pool facing the axe by hosting a swimming gala there.
Each year, Rainbows, Brownies and Guides in the Bingley area take part in The Division Shield competition which takes the form of different events. This year, leaders decided to host a swimming gala, which they have not done since the 1980s.
Bingley Division Commissioner Carol Phillips said: “With the planned closure of Bingley pool, we thought a swimming gala would be a good way to show support, especially as many of the girls use the pool for swimming lessons, general recreation or with their schools.”
Olympic Bronze hockey medalist Jill Atkins-Mackley presented the shields and spoke to the girls about some of her experiences in sport.
The 4th Cottingley Rainbows, Brownies and Guides took home the shields for all three sections.
