Banner-waving protesters have pledged to block the entrance to woods in Bradford today as Council officials arrived to carry out work.
The Friends of Black Carr Woods were set to gather at the entrance to the woods in Tyersal as part of a peaceful protest.
Members are objecting to the hardcore building material being used for the redevelopment of paths and bridleways in the woods as they believe it contains poisonous petro-chemicals.
Group member Steven Drake said: “We camped out in the woods for one night. We were able to speak to local people passing through the woods on horses, bikes and on foot. The horses are finding it difficult and the riders were concerned they were going to be lamed.
Speaking late last night, he said: “We will be back at 6am (today) with banners, trying to block the entrance the council workers will have to use.”
