A film set and shot in Bradford is one of three films to be nominated for an international prize.
The Selfish Giant, written and directed by Clio Barnard of Otley, is about two boys who turn to scrap metal dealing. It stars Bradford schoolboys Connor Chapman (left) and Shaun Thomas (right).
The LUX prize will be presented in Strasbourg on December 11. The other two films up for nominated are The Broken Circle Breakdown and Miele.
The Selfish Giant, described as “boldly cinematic” with “astonishing performances”, will be released on DVD in the new year. It is the second film from Clio Barnard, who made her big screen directorial debut with The Arbor, about Bradford playwright Andrea Dunbar.
