A funding bid to prevent vehicles using pedestrian areas at a sheltered housing complex in Pudsey has been welcomed.
Labour Councillors Mick Coulson, Richard Lewis and Josie Jarosz are supporting a bid to remove hedges and install metal barriers at Crimbles Court and Crimbles Place.
Elderly residents have asked Housing Leeds to remove the hedges, which were overgrown and unsightly. There were also concerns about vehicles using the pedestrian-priority as a short cut.
The Housing Leeds Outer West Area Panel has agreed to fund the removal of the hedges, which will be replaced with grass, and install metal barriers to prevent unauthorised access by vehicles.
Coun Coulson said: “Many residents have contacted us about the dangers posed by irresponsible drivers cutting through the Crimbles estate and their issues with the overgrown hedges. This project will be an effective way to help make the area safer and more attractive. I look forward to seeing the work completed which should take place next year.”
