Parents upset over proposals to withdraw free school bus passes have challenged Council officers to walk the school route from Carleton and Skipton.
Some 39 pupils from 30 families in Carleton attending high schools in Skipton face having their passes taken away because cash-strapped North Yorkshire County Council says the route is “under the statutory walking distance of three miles for secondary age pupils” and is deemed safe under national guidelines.
But parents in the Carleton Village Campaign for School Safety group are appealing against the decision.
Residents have commissioned a report about the road between Carleton and Skipton (pictured) which they believe to be unsafe.
