Soap fans queued up today to see an Emmerdale star open a new shop in Shipley.
Actress Meg Johnson, who plays Pearl Ladderbanks, helped Head of Shops at Marie Curie Cancer Care Alec Barclay cut the ribbon at the charity’s new store on Market Square.
The shop, in the former home of the Shipley Focus’d Photographic Gallery, will raise money to support the Marie Curie Hospice in Bradford, which provides free expert care for terminally ill people and support for their families.
Regional shop manager Alison Atkin said: “The opening has gone really well. We had a fantastic response from the local community.
“Meg stayed for about an hour, opening the shop and having a good look round.
"We had a lot of people waiting for her arrival when she arrived at 11am.”
Mrs Atkin said the cast of the ITV soap was hugely supportive of the hospice in Maudsley Street.
