Bradford District Care Trust is supporting volunteers to get involved at their local GP practice through a new project.
Practice Health Champions is a two-year Lottery-funded project which will see 150 patients across the district working with staff at selected practices to identify health needs.
‘Champions’ will deliver activities such as weight management classes, walking groups and relaxation sessions. Practices taking part include Picton Medical Centre at Westbourne Green and The Ridge at Great Horton.
Dr Gareth James, of The Ridge, said: “This is an exciting project. We have brilliant patients with great ideas.
"Champions will greatly improve the work we’re doing. They will provide a vital source of support for patients.”
Patients registered with The Ridge or Picton Medical Centre interested in becoming a practice health champion should e-mail practice.champions@ bdct.nhs.uk or call (01274) 322662.
