A half-naked woman answered the door to police officers investigating reports of a brothel, Bradford Crown Court heard.

Their inquiries also uncovered a prostitute wrapped in a towel on the landing and a nude man in a bedroom, the court heard.

Three women were operating the brothel, in Southfield Lane, Great Horton, Bradford, as an “informal co-operative”, prosecutor Ben Campbell said yesterday.

Renata Klodka, 46, and Anna Winiarska, 45, were arrested at the house on March 9, along with a third Polish woman who was believed to have fled the UK.

Klodka, who has moved to Manchester, and Winiarska, of Glenlee Road, Lidget Green, Bradford, pleaded guilty to keeping a brothel.

Winiarska admitted the offence at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates' Court and was committed to the Crown Court for sentence.

Klodka was separately committed to the Crown Court and pleaded guilty last month.

Mr Campbell said that police officers acting on a tip-off visited the property at 9.20pm and were invited in by Klodka, who was naked from the waist down.

Winiarska was also in the house and a third woman was upstairs with a client.

The naked man told the police he had found the brothel advertised on a website and was texted the address.

He had paid £50 for half an hour with “Sandra”.

Mr Campbell said £672 in cash was found in the house, along with incriminating laptop computers, phones and notebooks.

Messages from clients were recovered from two of the phones.

The three women made no comment in their police interviews.

Winiarska was found to have rented the house in October, 2012, and Klodka shared the bills.

Klodka, who wore a fitted black outfit, and Winiarska, in a black top with a sparkly gold and silver motif, stood in the dock on either side of an interpreter.

Judge John Potter said the women were cautioned in August, 2012, for keeping a brothel in Bradford.

Both were sex workers in Leeds but had set up on their own because they were being exploited, the court was told.

“It is sad that women such as you become involved in the sex trade in this way,” the judge said.

He sentenced both women to ten months’ imprisonment, suspended for 12 months, with 150 hours of unpaid work.

Klodka, who pleaded guilty later, also got 12 months’ supervision.
