Thornton Grammar School has linked up with schools in Sweden, Iceland, Greece and Romania as part of a scheme to create partnerships across Europe.
Teachers will visit their partner schools and work on a joint project over the next two years through the Comenius Programme, funded by the European Commission and managed in the UK by the British Council.
The programme provides funding and professional development to enable students and teachers across Europe to work together and learn about each other’s culture and education methods. Thornton Grammar School has been awarded 20,000 euros to take part.
Three teachers from TGS recently visited Eleftheriou Benizelou Secondary School in Crete where they took part in lessons at the school and learned about the island’s culture.
