Regional police chiefs are supporting International Restorative Justice Week which aims to raise awareness of the scheme.
Until November 24, the police, Probation Service, local authorities and Youth Offending Service are highlighting the work which takes place in a bid to raise awareness of restorative justice.
West Yorkshire Chief Constable Mark Gilmore (pictured) said: “The use of community resolutions and conditional cautions deliver restorative justice to victims and communities for less serious offences. This can range from a letter of apology, to a meeting or an offender-based action that visibly demonstrates reparation in the community. We also refer people to neighbourhood resolution panels facilitated by volunteers. These currently operate in Calderdale, Bradford and Kirklees.”
