Christmas comes to Silsden this weekend.
A festive extravaganza is being staged in the town on Sunday, culminating with the switching-on of the Christmas lights.
And flicking the switch will be popular resident Mary Fryers.
“Mary is a lovely lady and is always out there helping at events, whatever the weather,” said Mags Croft, for the organisers.
“We thought she would be a wonderful choice to switch on the lights.
“The ceremony will be accompanied by a small but loud fireworks display.
“We’re just keeping our fingers crossed for the weather.”
A Christmas market will run from 10am to 4pm, with stalls in the town hall and on Briggate. Some shops will open.
Refreshments will be served in the town hall.
From 4pm the town band will accompany carols at the bandstand, before the switch-on and fireworks at 4.30pm.
