Otley’s ward councillors have expressed dismay that some of the town centre will be omitted from new alternate-week bin collections.
Leeds City Council will begin the new arrangement, which will see green bin collections increased from monthly to fortnightly, across much of the city next week.
The move has been hailed by many as a further step towards increasing the amount of waste that householders, and Leeds as a whole, can recycle.
But Councillors Ryk Downes, Sandy Lay and Colin Campbell (all Lib-Dem, Otley & Yeadon) say hundreds of local homes will miss out.
Coun Downes said: “Given the extensive publicity and with a start date for the new collections a week away, we were surprised to find that hundreds of houses in Otley have been excluded from the proposals.”
