Saltaire has narrowly missed being the winner of The Great Neighbourhood Award at a ceremony held by the Academy of Urbanism.
The UNESCO World Heritage site was shortlisted in a search which covered the whole of the British Isles.
It was up against another two finalists - the West End area of Glasgow and the famous Grand Canal Quarter in Dublin.
Finally, the judges in London chose to go north of the border and give it to Glasgow Shipley councillor Hawarun Hussain (Green) said the village should be praised for getting so far in the competition.
“Obviously, we’re all a bit disappointed, but it is very good to have got so far. I don’t personally know that area of Glasgow, but as far as I’m concerned - it can’t be as nice as Saltaire!”
