A youth caught tending a Bradford cannabis farm may have been trafficked to the UK, a judge was told yesterday.
The 17-year-old Vietnamese national was bailed to an address in the city centre while investigations are carried out to see how he got into the country.
He appeared in custody at Bradford Crown Court after being arrested at a cannabis farm in Delamere Street, West Bowling.
Prosecutor Ewan McLachlan said the Crown Prosecution Service may not believe it to be in the public interest to pursue the case of a trafficked youth, although he had already pleaded guilty to production of cannabis.
Judge Peter Benson said he feared the youth, who does not speak English, could vanish from his bail accommodation. The teenager was ordered to live and sleep at the address.
