A death-defying stunt show will go ahead tomorrow evening after securing a funding grant at the 11th hour.
In a world first, Bradford-born escapologist Antony Britton plans to escape from a cage called Lucifer’s Chamber before it dramatically sets itself alight.
The show, in Bradford’s City Park, is being held to raise funds for Help For Heroes.
Mr Britton had originally planned to stage his escape in September but was forced to call it off when he couldn’t find the funding he needed.
His organisation, Escape For Life, had applied from £2,500 from Bradford Council’s Visitor Promotion Fund.
Now the Council department responsible for events at City Park have agreed to fast-track a £1,500 donation from a different funding pot that will enable the stunt to go ahead.
The show starts at 2pm with live music from local acts 10 Second Shotgun, Lizard Tongue and Dawn of Elysium. Mr Britton will be attempting his death-defying escape at 6pm.
