Hipperholme Grammar students welcomed a VIP guest.
The Rt Hon the Lord Shutt of Greetland, OBE, a member of the House of Lords, gave an inspirational presentation about his work in the House to sixth form and year 11 students as part of the Lord Speaker’s Peers in Schools Outreach programme, to encourage students to engage more with the political and Parliamentary process.
The Lord Speaker’s “Peers in Schools” programme has been running since 2007 and has so far involved around 50,000 young people.
The continuing outreach programme sends members of the House of Lords into schools and colleges across the country to give talks in support of the citizenship curriculum.
