The first details have been released about Otley’s second Word Feast Weekend.
The 2014 event, designed to celebrate the written and spoken word, will take place from Friday, March 28, to Sunday, March 30.
Aspiring writers are invited to enter its free-to-enter creative writing competition, based around the theme of ‘market’.
The contest is hoping to attract entries that give an original twist to the idea of a market or market towns, like Otley.
Adults and schoolchildren in Year 7 and above can enter a poem of up to 40 lines or a story of 600 words or fewer, while there is a 200-word limit for both poems and stories from pupils in Years three to six.
Prizes for the winning adult entries will include two tickets to the Grand Opening Feast at Korks Wine Bar, on Bondgate, on March 28.
The closing date for entries is January 20. Visit otleywordfeast.org.uk for full details.
A programme containing all of the feast's literary attractions, meanwhile, is also due out in January.
