A man used his mum’s disabled badge to park illegally in Bradford as revenge against the Council for previous fines, a court heard.

Mark Sands had left his BMW in Oastler car park at 1.20pm on July 16 while he attended a court hearing for earlier using a Blue Badge.

Bradford and Keighley Magistrates heard that Sands, 54, of West Lane, Haworth, claimed to wardens that the badgeholder – his mother – was “in town with his niece”.

But Sands admitted he “used the badge to get back at the Council”.

Sands was fined on July 16 for illegally using the Blue Badge in January this year. The court also heard that in 2011 he had received a warning letter from the Council about using the badge.

Sands, who pleaded guilty to illegally using the badge, was not in court.

He was fined £130 and ordered to pay £200 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
