Three men described as heroin “street dealers” were jailed at Bradford Crown Court.

Qamar Zaman, 31, of Squire Lane, Girlington, Atique Younis, 30, of Agar Street, Girlington and Kamran Ahmed, 24, of Girlington Road, all of Bradford, were sentenced to a total of nine years and eight months.

All three had pleaded guilty to possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply, with Ahmed also pleading guilty to a second charge of possessing criminal property.

Prosecutor John Topham QC told the court that the three men had been stopped by police in a hire car on Haworth Road in Bradford on April 24 last year.

On searching the vehicle, police found five wraps of heroin, including one that Mr Ahmed had tried to conceal in his mouth. The three men were also found to be carrying more than £700 in cash and makeshift business cards police said had been given out to drug addicts.

Sentencing the men, Judge Colin Burn said there was no compelling evidence as to who was directing the sale of drugs on the day in question, but that all three men had played equally significant roles.

Zaman, who had already served three years in prison and six months in a young offenders institution for two previous drug trafficking convictions, was sentenced to a total of three years and four months.

Younis, who had served 525 days in prison for a previous drug trafficking offence, was also sentenced to three years and four months in prison.

Ahmed was jailed for three years.
