Former Batley and Spen MP Elizabeth Peacock has put pen to paper to give an insight into her role as one of the few female MPs at the time within Margaret Thatcher’s Government.
‘A Yorkshire Lass at the court of Thatcher’ is Mrs Peacock’s debut book and focuses on her 14 years in the political arena.
Mrs Peacock (pictured) was not afraid to vote against her own party, the Conservatives, as she did during the Miners’ Strike in the 1980s,and became known for her ‘no nonsense, just common sense’ approach.
Mrs Peacock became the first woman MP to participate in the Lord v Commons charity motor race at Brands Hatch in which she more than held her own.
Her autobiography will go on sale from next Wednesday.
