Forensics experts are examining a shotgun which was found dumped in bushes near to a mosque.
Police were alerted after a passer by spotted the weapon hidden at a track, off Steadman Street, Barkerend, Bradford.
A police firearms team was among officers sent to the scene to recover the gun. It was taken away for examination.
Resident Jamie Bradshaw, 18, said he saw the police activity when he looked out of his bedroom window yesterday morning.
He said: “There were half a dozen police vehicles, including the Scientific Support Unit van. There was a police cordon and there were forensics officers in the white suits. They had evidence bags with them.
“They were looking in the bushes next to the mosque on a track between the mosque and houses on Steadman Street.”
Police confirmed: “A shotgun has been recovered from a bush at that location and is being examined.”
