Bradford’s City Park has clinched an award. Visiting judges from the Public Monuments and Sculpture Association were impressed by the UK’s largest man-made water feature, which boasts more than 100 fountains and the 4,000 sq m mirror pool.
Bradford Council and Fountain Workshop Ltd were last night named the winner of The Marsh Award for Fountains, for “the best use of moving water in the regeneration of urban public space”.
Bradford Council leader, Councillor David Green, said: “I’m delighted the fountains have won yet another national award.”
Writer and art critic Richard Dorment presented the awards at a ceremony in London last night. A commemorative plaque will be installed in City Park.
