The former owner of a Chinese takeaway in Keighley has been convicted of a string of hygiene and health and safety violations.
Zheng Ziang Chen, who ran Goodall in South Street, was fined £7,000 and ordered to pay £2,829 costs for the offencesby Bradford and Keighley magistrates .
The 38-year-old, of Coronation Mount, Keighley, was convicted of failure to protect food from contamination, keep kitchen items clean, or provide hand washing facilities.
He also failed to provide adequate procedure to control pests; provide lighting in a store room; maintain floors, walls and ceilings, or adhere to specific principles.
Mr Chen was also convicted on two counts of failure to ensure food handlers were supervised or trained in food hygiene.
Inspectors also discovered that a floor covering at the bottom of a staircase leading to the basement storeroom gave movement while walking. There were gaps on both sides and a tear, which all presented a trip hazard.
After the case Councillor Andrew Thornton, Bradford Council's executive member for environment, warned its environemntal health officers would continue to target poorly-run food businesses.
He said: "We want people across the Bradford district to be sure that food is being prepared in places where high standards of cleanliness are maintained.
"We are always willing to work with businesses to help them to achieve these high standards. However, if people continue to create a serious health risk by ignoring the rules, we will take legal action."
Bradford Council also stressed that Goodall was now being run by a different operator.
Its manager, Tracy He, said she and her partner Hai, the new owner, took over Goodall about three months ago.
She said the pair had immediately called in a Council inspector and had acted on his recommendations.
She added: "I did all the things he asked. Everything is all clean."
