People wanting to give back to their communities can find out about voluntary youth work at a special event.
Bradford Council’s Youth Service is looking for adult volunteers who would like to take on a role helping local young people.
To mark National Youth Work Week, it is holding a special recruitment event this Saturday from 1pm to 4pm at Culture Fusion, Thornton Road, Bradford.
The event will be an opportunity for people to learn about what the service does, to find out what opportunities are on offer across the district, to hear from current volunteers and to register their interest.
Heather Esiri, Bradford Council’s deputy youth service manager, said: “We want people who believe passionately in the potential of all young people and will work towards their best interests.
“The skills and experiences people can gain are very relevant and they can use them in many other career paths to help with future employment. Many professional workers, particularly within service and care sectors, started their career as volunteers within the Youth Service.”
Councillor Ralph Berry, portfolio holder for Children’s Services, said: “This really is a way in which people can gain skills and give back to their community. The service needs strong representation from all the diverse backgrounds and communities that make up the district so we can offer positive role models.”
