Bradford was hailed as a trail-blazer as a new plan to tackle air pollution was approved.
Bradford Council’s executive gave the thumbs-up to its new Low Emission Strategy (LES), meaning it will become the first city in West Yorkshire and only the second in the country after York to enforce a hard-hitting action plan to slash air pollution.
The focus of the plan will be road pollution. It will encourage the take-up of low emission vehicles, support car-share schemes and encourage people to cycle.
As reported by the Telegraph & Argus last week another idea being explored is the introduction of low emission zones, which would only allow buses or HGVs to enter if they met green standards.
