A Royal Navy reservist from Bradford has swapped his life as an administrator to live as a full-time sailor for two weeks while he completed his induction training.
Able Rate Edward Hallett, 29, (pictured) joined the RNR in 2012 and is a member of Ceres Division in Leeds.
The former pupil of Hipperholme Grammar School spent his two-week course at HMS Raleigh in Cornwall learning how to fire the SA80 assault rifle and being put through his paces during fire-fighting, damage control and seamanship training.
Able Rate Hallett said: “My father Alan was a reservist and his stories of how much he enjoyed serving encouraged me to join. I also enjoy military history.”
The Royal Navy Reserves are a force of 2,300 trained men and women who are deployed with the Royal Navy. To find out more go to royalnavy.mod.uk.
