A professor working at the University of Bradford has won an award for his “unselfish contributions” to industry.
John Fieldhouse was this year’s recipient of the SAE Dan Mahannah Award for his contributions to the brake and friction material industries.
Prof Fieldhouse, who is helping to develop a “Centre of Excellence in Braking Research” was presented the award at a visit to a braking event in Florida.
Roy Link, general chairman of the Brake Colloquium Executive Board and chairman of Link Engineering, presented the trophy, saying: “John has spent over 30 years working on brake research.
"He is a recognized expert in solving brake noise problems and a pioneer in using optical methods in brake research.
"John has been an inspiration to our industry and a model for communicating technology around the world.”
