These ladies who lunch were in the pink when they raised more than £1,000 an hour at a glitzy fundraiser.
Hundreds of women gathered at the Midland Hotel in Bradford to celebrate Cancer Support Bradford and Airedale’s silver jubilee and raise much-needed funds for the charity as it looks forward to the next 25 years.
The glitzy Pink Lunch, so called to mark breast cancer awareness month, attracted women from throughout the country who donned feather boas, novelty glasses and eye-catching headwear to enjoy a fun afternoon with a serious purpose.
Gifts from local businesses and charity supporters meant the tombola, raffle and auction were full of prizes to be won, and donations flowed as a result.
The charity’s fundraising team has now totted up the amount that was raised at the lunch which was £5,600 – more than £1,000 per hour.
Community fundraiser Linda Enderby said: “This event represented a lot of hard work for all involved.
"Our fundraising team, the hotel staff and our supporters each invested time and money to make it the success it was.
“But it was all worth it. The room was full of laughter and dancing, and the ladies continued to dig deep for every fundraising activity ."
