Emmerdale’s Home Farm is to be re-created to allow a stunt to be filmed as part of a new storyline.

The popular TV series, which is filmed on the Harewood Estate, normally uses Arthington’s Creskeld Hall as Home Farm.

But the Grade II listed building is not suitable for a top secret stunt which is being planned, and now a replica of the farm’s exterior is set to be built to allow filming to take place.

The scheme came to light when ITV submitted a planning application to Leeds City Council for use of a field as a temporary film set for one year at Stub House Farm, Harrogate Road, Harewood.

The TV company is reluctant to give any details away for fear of spoiling the plot.

But a spokeswoman confirmed the plan.

“We have applied for planning permission because we have got a stunt for filming that we couldn’t do on a Grade II listed building,” she said.

“We can’t give too much away,” she added.

If the plan is approved by the council the TV company will create a replica exterior of the listed building.

Emmerdale is described as “the small village with big drama.” The show has been running for 40 years regularly entertaining more than seven million viewers six times a week.
