Bright-eyed Bingley resident Lottie Cowburn has celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by family and friends at Wingfield Nursing Home.
Born in Halifax, Mrs Cowburn came to the town at the age of 18 to work as a nanny and the baby she cared for was also present at the party.
Ethne Bannister, whose family own Coniston Hall Hotel and the Boundary Mills chain of shops, said Mrs Cowburn had never changed: “Her mind and memory are as sharp as ever and she has always been so full of fun.”
Lottie and her husband Joe owned and ran Lund’s grocers shop in Park Road Bingley for many years, said her grandson Matthew.
“And when they gave it up, they carried on living in Park Road and it was only three months ago that she moved out of her own home,” he said.
