A couple who have served the communities of Cross Hills and Glusburn for many years are celebrating their golden wedding.
Roger and Margaret Nicholson, of Park Drive, were married on October 26, 1963, at St Thomas’ Church in the village.
They celebrated their day with a family party at Cross Hills Village Centre, an event that also marked the 99th birthday of Roger’s mum, Marion Nicholson, of Steeton.
Roger, 71, and Margaret, 68, were born in Steeton and met as teenagers.
Roger was elected onto Craven District Council in 1980 and became chairman in 1984.
Margaret joined the district council in 1987, and became chairman in 1994.
Roger and Margaret have four children – Wendy, Georgina, Toby and Alexander – and seven grandchildren.
