A man who is campaigning against his country’s debt will today address a public meeting in Bradford.
Abdul Khaliq, who leads the Committee for the Abolition of Third World Debt campaign in Pakistan, will speak at Carlisle Business Centre at 7pm.
He said: “There is no reason we should be paying reckless lenders for loans which were of no benefit to ordinary people. We are calling on people in the UK to support our demand for a public audit into Pakistan's debt.”
Speaker Habib Malik, Islamic Relief Scotland’s director, added: “Pakistan’s economy is paralysed by its foreign debt burden.”
