Bradford West MP George Galloway last night called for action to improve air quality in the city, which has the fourth-highest number of emergency hospital admissions for asthma in the country. The Respect MP spoke out after the Telegraph & Argus yesterday reported details of Bradford’s Low Emission Strategy – the first plan of its kind in West Yorkshire and only the second in the country – which aims to cut levels of pollution across the district.
The scheme is recommended for approval by Bradford Council’s next week. Mr Galloway said: “It’s not often I commend an initiative by the Labour-controlled council.”
