Music acts who had given up on performing in the final of a Bradford Bulls X Factor-style talent contest will finally get their big break.

The Bulls’ new owners have announced the delayed OK Bull Factor final will be hosted at Odsal stadium on Saturday night before its Monster Truck and Firework Spectacular show.

Late last year, Bradford Bulls launched the OK Bull Factor competition inviting bands to play before matches and asking fans to vote for acts who went through to the semi-final.

The semi-finalists were then expected to play at a grand final in September with £5,000 up for grabs for the eventual winner but when the gig failed to materialise it left some of the bands and acts who got through disappointed.

One band, Acapulco Gold, who got through three sets of auditions to play in the final and then heard nothing, felt so let down its members got in touch with the Telegraph & Argus.

The club’s former owner Omar Khan had handed over the Bulls’ reins to the new owners Ryan Whitcut and Mark Moore, of BedzRus, that month and an end of season extravaganza, with players, directors and fans took place on Saturday, September 14, but no mention was made of the OK Bull Factor.

Nathan Kerridge, of Acapulco Gold, told the T&A there were up to 60 acts who had played in the competition and 12 acts had expected to play in the final.

“Apparently after we last played, a few bands played, then it all went quiet. No more bands were playing, there were no more promotions about it or anything,” he said.

When the T&A asked the new Bulls co-owner Mr Whitcut why the OK Bull Factor did not happen he said he had not been involved with the contest, did not know what had happened to the prize money or when the final was supposed to be taking place but he did say he was sure there would be some opportunities for the bands and he would try to sort it out.

Now the final is finally being advertised on the Bulls’ website to take place before the main Monster Stunt & Firework Spectacular when acts will be competing for a £5,000 prize and the chance to be introduced into the music industry.

The Extreme Stunt Show will follow the music contest from 7.30pm and features Bigfoot, the world record holding monster truck, Lil’ Devil and world record holder Jez Avery before the night ends with a fireworks’ display .
