Bumps that go Light in the Night is a children’s spooky alternative to traditional Halloween parties that will take place across Bradford tomorrow night.

And while promising to be a spine-tingling affair where creepy fancy dress is welcome, any shocks or horrors will be offset by a positive Christian theme, said the Reverend Beverley Mason, of All Saints Church, Bingley.

“While we don’t want any little devils or wicked witches coming along, it will be a wonderful scary treat,” Mrs Mason said.

The fun runs from 6pm to 7.15pm and will include dangling doughnuts, bobbing apples and arts and crafts for youngsters.

Queensbury Life Church, between 5pm and 7.30pm at Victoria Hall, is hosting games, a bouncy castle and circus skills, while children are asked to go as cartoon characters, princesses or super heroes.

The Zephaniah Trust and Shipley Churches at Northcliffe Church, Shipley, are expecting 125 children and family members to their party from 6pm to 8pm.

Pudsey Parish Church is hosting a sparkle party from 5pm to 7pm, while primary school-aged children in Holme Wood are invited to St Christopher’s Church from 4.30pm and asked to wear pyjamas or a onesie.

St John the Baptist Church, at Coley, wants youngsters to bring a torch to their party which starts at 5pm.

An afternoon of fun and games called Lightfest is at St Paul’s Church in Manningham from 4.30pm. St John's in Great Horton has a party from 6pm.

Meanwhile, the after-school club called Primetime which meets each Wednesday at St Mary’s the Vine Church in Laisterdyke will be out with their families “blessing and treating” neighbours in the area after litter-picking.
